Sequence Services LCC was founded in 2012 by our Director Kathleen Landers LCSW-C, who has been working in the human services field since 1987 and in private practice since 2002. Sequence Counseling and Consulting Services is the the direct service branch of the organization, and the Sequence Institute for Learning and Education serves as our training branch with programs for professionals and the general public alike.

You will find the secret in our name and logo, which reflects the FIBONACCI SEQUENCE. Graceful in its simplicity, this mathematical equation of perpetual and balanced growth can be demonstrated in the artistic golden spiral of our logo. Sequence is a multi-disciplinary group, supported by therapists, coaches. We meet weekly, communicate routinely and are a community that learns, plays, collaborates and supports one another. SEQUENCE recognizes that the care of you and your family members is our mission. While our providers are experts in their specialty areas, we strive to maintain our fees in the mid-range of what our colleagues charge locally. We endeavor to be transparent about fees, and fair.

Sequence does not accept direct payment from any insurance company, but rather from the individuals served. Mental health services are reimbursable to the extent allowed by individual insurance plans for "out-of-network" benefits. Your service provider or our administrative staff will provide you with assistance in determining your mental health insurance coverage. Please read our guide to using your out-of-network benefits for more information on how to submit paperwork for reimbursement.

Your therapist will provide a Good Faith Estimate where they explain the costs of services and anticipated duration of treatment based upon your individual circumstances and needs. Updates to financial issues ( examples: insurance coverage reimbursement change, job loss or change, marital changes, aging beyond parents insurance coverage) may warrant a reduction in fees, and should be addressed with your provider. Fees will not be increased once you have begun services, except for a cost of living increase of no more than 3%, assessed every 2 years by the practice as a whole.

Career coaching, including resume writing, may be tax deductible. Please contact your tax adviser for specifics.

Executive Coaching may be covered by your employer.

Our rates vary for service type and length of service. The rate range is listed below, updated 2025:

Counseling and Coaching Services

• Individual Therapy 55 - 60 minutes: $225.00
• Couples Therapy 60 - 90 minutes: $250.00 - 375.00
• Couples Therapy Intensives of 4 consecutive hours ( includes prep, assessments, evaluation) : $1,250.00
• Group Therapy 60 minutes: $80.00 (lower rates may apply, see specific group listing for details)
• Group Therapy 120 minutes: $165.00
• Life Coaching Packages of 5, 10 or 15 sessions: 195.00 per session before discount

Career and Workplace Services

• Career Coaching 60-75 minutes $210.00 - $250.00
• Executive Coaching 60 minutes $250.00

All fees may be adjusted based upon need. Please speak with your provider to discuss a sliding scale option.

SEQUENCE accepts credit cards. Fees are due at the time of service or by prepayment. Credit card information will be kept on file, in an encrypted online storage, and is required for all clients.

Sequence Counseling and Consulting Services (Sequence Services LLC) has become the professional home for providers who wish to focus their efforts on service delivery, in a setting that offers a balance of support and autonomy. A self-pay therapy and coaching practice, Sequence offers highly competitive compensation to expert independent consultants with a range of professional backgrounds. 

Our service providers are full-time remote, full-time in-person, or hybrid. In-person offices are located in Maryland. Providers receive direct referrals from Sequence and Sequence built networking and marketing venues to support caseloads ranging from 10 to 30 sessions per week.

The practice offers a "percentage of fees collected compensation" to the independent sub-contractor, with provider portion based upon caseload, range of services offered, longevity and expertise.

Providers sign an agreement to abide by the policies and guidelines of the practice, and the ethics of their designated licensure. As self employed individuals they retain all tax related benefits of the 1099 status. Individual provider service rates are at the discretion of the provider, in consultation with the practice.

The practice offers weekly clinical case peer supervision, cross-referrals, electronic health records, telehealth platforms, administrative support including billing documents and client facing personal contact insurance reimbursement support. Designated furnished office space for in person and hybrid providers that may be personalized, all marketing, professional communication systems, discounted CEU trainings, social and  wellness events, study groups and co-leadership of events and programs. Providers are encouraged and supported to offer professional development courses and groups, and expand their clinical skills in ways that meet their professional goals. Bonuses may be used towards professional development, additional licensures ( state) or certifications at the providers discretion. The workplace is one of a positive and collaborative work culture.

Therapists licensed or eligible for licensure in Maryland are encouraged to apply, and must be licensed or eligible for licensure in DC and VA. Multistate licensure is encouraged.

Sequence has office locations in the Rockville and Silver Spring areas of Montgomery County MD, with 6 consultant offices in Rockville and 4 in Silver Spring.

These private, well appointed offices may be available for hourly or full day rental based upon the current occupancy needs of the Sequence  providers.

In addition, our Silver Spring site includes a large training room configurable with or without tables, and has a capacity for 20 (seated lecture style) This space is available for rent in 3 hour blocks of time. Rates can include a large screen monitor with internet access & blueray player. Additional rental options include a second smaller conference room on the same floor, a warming kitchen, and outdoor garden space. Accessible by public transportation and within yards of a public parking garage, this light filled space is a wonderful place to host a professional event.
