Zelma Sciaudone LCSW-C, CTP-C, CTF-CBT
Zelma Sciaudone, LCSW-C, joins Sequence with fifteen years of experience in the field of social work. She is a compassionate psychotherapist who has worked in a variety of setting with children adolescents, adults, and families from a range of backgrounds. She is highly regarded for her ability to build therapeutic relationships and facilitate growth.
Zelma’s work experience spans settings as diverse as a domestic violence shelter serving women and children fleeing domestic violence to a neighborhood services coordinator offering financial literacy and housing solutions to support underserved populations and as a private practice clinician offering individual, group, and family therapy to a range of clients. She has worked extensively with children and youth offering therapeutic services in both middle and elementary schools, as well as home-based services, working with children, school administrators, and families to achieve stability and success for her clients. Zelma has served in a leadership role often, and was the director of school-based teams with the Linkages to Learning program, supervising 7 school-based sites offering supervision to community school coordinators and family case managers. Zelma uses her skills as a supervisor at Sequence, offering supervision towards licensure for other therapists in training.
Curious and creative, Zelma is a natural problem solver and one eager to share her knowledge. Zelma has extensive training in the areas of trauma, integrative therapies, cultural diversity, family systems, and learning challenges faced by students that impact performance and behavior. At Sequence she offers in person and virtual child, adolescent and adult therapy. Her range of clinical skills across the lifespan contribute to the depth and nuance of her treatment approach. She is often found using play and creative based techniques with younger clients while working in close collaboration with families and schools to ensure every client she serves grows and develops to reach their most resilient, adjusted, and healthy selves. With adults her focus is psychodynamic, with an interest is experiential healing for somatic manifestations of stress and emotional challenges. With all clients Zelma uses tools such as mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, behavior modification, and solution-focused therapy to offer the best possible services. In Zelma’s words “ I can experience the nobility of this path by touching many lives, making a measurable difference, and by witnessing the positive impact that social workers and counselors make on a daily basis in the lives of so many people”.
Originally from Bolivia, Zelma has made Maryland her home and has raised a family here. She brings many gifts of her presence, warmth, and humor to her role as a therapist and we are delighted to have her on the Sequence team.
