Amy Zimmerman joined Sequence in 2023 and is a warm, compassionate, client-centered therapist serving children, teens, and adults in individual, group and couples' formats. She creatively uses a wide range of research-based methods, including the expressive arts, to help individuals navigate through personal struggles and become more grounded and secure individuals. Amy also enjoys navigating the complexities of relationships to facilitate decreases in contention and increases in meaningful connection.  Amy has a certificate in health coaching and is open to supporting clients in the research-based link between physical and mental health.

Amy's experience as a therapist is preceded by 20 years of experience as a music therapist with neurotypical and neurodiverse children and adults in pre-schools, schools, hospitals, day programs. She has been trained through Level II in the use of the Bonny Method of Guided Imagery and Music (GIM), a technique which incorporates listening to music while the therapist leads a guided imagery session as a part of an individual therapy session. This can occur over a series of sessions or as needed, and has been demonstrated to contribute powerful relaxation, healing and emotional integration aspects into the therapy work, which can be used to facilitate self-guided healing and wholeness. More information can be found on our website under individual counseling.

Amy's skills and interests are broad, and she brings these perspectives to her psychotherapy work. She has done extensive volunteer work, coached basketball, led choirs, and parented a large family. As a world traveler, she is keenly aware of and respectful of differing cultural norms and beliefs and experiences which shape us all. She has conversational fluency in Portuguese. Amy's exuberance for helping others be their best selves and fortify meaningful relationships is her key to success.
