MOTHER'S MIND

MOTHER'S MIND

The transition to motherhood is a remarkable yet complex process. This therapeutic support group offers participants the opportunity to process the details, nuances and emotions of the experience. Therapist led, this group offers educational information such as discussions about best practices and techniques around relationship changes, self care and parenting. However this group also offers the opportunity for deep emotional exploration and support in a non-judgmental setting. Coping strategies including mindfulness techniques are incorporated into the groups experience. Postpartum depression screenings are conducted regularly, and participants are given the therapeutic support needed to process the full range of feelings brought about by this significant life transition.

The group leader, Anchal Khanna, is a Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist with many years experience, skilled in individual, group and couples work. Ms. Khanna also is a trained educator of the renowned Gottman Institute's "Bringing Baby Home" program which she offers with her co-facilitator Gabriel Chernoff LCSW-C at the Sequence offices and in the community. Helping individuals and couples navigate the transition to parenthood is an area of skill to which Ms. Khanna holds a deep commitment, ensuring the best emotional health of parents and their children.

Participants are required to undergo a pre-screening with the group leader to assess if this group will be a good fit. Participants are asked to make a commitment to group membership for at least a three month period of time, the minimum amount of time considered to help create a truly therapeutic experience.
