Grief Therapy Group

Grief Therapy Group

This group is for adults who have lost someone dear to them, and who are finding the grieving process to be complex. They may be having difficulty on their own moving forward towards healing. The group process allows individuals to share pain in a safe and accepting place. Members strengthen their own coping mechanisms using the stages of grief lens to understand their own process, while employing such techniques as mindfulness to provide emotional regulation. The goal of the group is to preserve the love and commitment to the individual who is gone, while engaging in a life that has moments of peace and joy.

Membership: This group has an open enrollment; new members are welcome to join the group following a pre-screening meeting with the facilitator. If membership in this group is not an appropriate fit, referrals to other services will be made. Members are asked to consider membership in the group a commitment to the on-going process and be willing to view themselves as integral members whose attendance is impact to the other members of the group. Potential members will review the membership expectations during the initial screening with the group facilitator.

Facilitator: This group is led by Gabriel Chernoff, a skilled therapist with 16 years’ experience.
